Dear parents,
World Book Day
We hope that the day will stimulate the children’s interest in reading. Thank you for providing the wonderful costumes last week. It was a fantastic day involving lots of drama, speaking and listening, researching, looking at books and related videos and of course presenting their handiwork We hope that you managed to come in and see what the children had been doing or if not heard a first hand account. Naturally we are very proud of Year 5 and 6 who were the masterminds behind all the activities.
Water Bottles
As part of our Healthy Schools status we encourage the children to bring a bottle of water to school to drink during the day. We would be grateful if you could put your child’s name on the bottle, as you can imagine there are many identical bottles which can cause confusion.
Comic Relief Day – Friday 13th
The School Council have decided to celebrate by coming by holding a ‘non-school uniform’ day. We will be collecting money on the back door at the beginning and end of the day. Red Noses are on sale in the school office, at present there are about 70 left.
Visit to the BIC – Dorset Rocks
Please see the letter about our whole school visit to the BIC to listen to this fascinating concert. I had the pleasure of seeing these Dorset school children at the Albert Hall last summer. It was a true celebration of the talented pupils across Dorset. Some of our ex pupils were taking part. Our teaching assistant team will be attending their annual conference so a number of parents will be joining us on the visit.
Dates for school holidays
We attach a card with this year and next year’s holiday dates. The training days for 2009/10 have not yet been set. This decision will be taken at the next Pyramid Headteachers’ meeting. We try to co-ordinate the dates so that children in different phases of education have the same training days. However it is not always possible to do so due to the differing needs of the schools, availability of training personnel etc. We are sending this as a hard copy to all parents so that you can keep it in a handy place at home. Once again we would urge you not to take children out of school during term time.
Weymouth Residential Visit for Y 6
. We know the children are looking forward to this very special week. There is a separate letter for the families of children in Y6 about the visit this week by Paul Hurrell.
.
Yours sincerely,
Susan Marsh (Mrs.)
