On Thursday 4th June 2009 .
Jays had a special visit from an archaeologist. On this day Jays have been dressing up like Kyle in year5 and all sorts. The class have been handling bones and toy guns from1000’s of years ago. We had some laminated sheets and some little houses. We had to put the houses on A B C or D for which place is the best to live. The lady gave us 2 medieval maps to circle all the water functions in the villages.

An archaeologist came in to speak to us. We had great fun with all the things she brought in. For example she brought all sortpipes to old pots and spoons to toy guns. I had a great laugh when Kyle dressed up in the archaeologist suit . It looked like he was a drunken fisherman lost at sea!

The archeologist visited school today and told us about being an archeoligist .We looked at some old bones and discoveries . We also had to make a timeline of all the bones and pottery . We also did some puzzles to look for uses of water on a medieval map .

An archeologist came and did fun activitities with us. She told us some interesting facts from the stone ages to modern days. She showed us some pictures from the computer of what they had found. She also told us what they already have in the Salisbury Museum. She told us about some very interesting bones, parts of pottery and some very interesting stones that lasted for centuries. She asked us to sort them on a time line ranging from stone age to modern day.

Jays had an Archaeologist who came to talk to them about the River Stour. She brought with her many bits of bone and lots of bits of pottery. Mrs Hill had to hold down Freddies arm because he was so enthusiastic about asking questions! It was really fun and apparently she might come back when we are doing the Victorians.
